Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a campaign to keep tax breaks for companies who produce biodiesel.
Producers transforming into biodiesel currently benefit from a 20p differential however that is because of end next April.
The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting with the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.
Mr George said "a variety of small companies in Cornwall currently make money from used cooking oil".
He added: "In order to have the ability to get this type of industry going it does require simply a bit of lift which is available in the form of tax inescapable."
Biodiesel is a mix of standard diesel, rapeseed and veggie oils.
